DMO Sport increase performance for paralympian
DM Orthotics’ new sports brand DMO Sport have been assisting Paralympian sprinter Sophia Warner with her training which helped her achieve her dream of reaching London 2012.
DMO Sports REPS Shorts played and “integral part” in the athletes preparation for the 2012 Games.
Sophia Warner who is a T35 100m sprinter with Cerebral Palsy heard about DM Orthotics through some of her fellow para athletes and got in touch with DM Orthotics Managing Director Martin Matthews who prescribed the REPS shorts which would improve her posture and improve efficiencies in muscle usage.
“I was blown away by how effective they were when I first put them on. The strength from the reinforcement panelling was so powerful. I was astounded – it felt like this was the first thing that would really work.”
Sophia’s coach Jonas Taiwah was also impressed,
“Sophia’s main problem was that she was using muscles for stability instead of power down her left side which made her inefficient. The shorts changed this. This vastly increased the stability in her left leg, which in turn increased her stride length, improving her power output.”
The DMO Sport REPS range of bespoke products has been designed with the high-performance athlete in mind. The tailored nature of each product allows for precise something to be made for the athlete – where the smallest changes can sometimes make the biggest difference to performance.
Martin Matthews commented,
“We have done a lot of work with members of Team GB and other professional athletes including premiership rugby and football players – both disabled and able bodied. It’s fantastic that we are able to take what we have learned and apply it in this way.”
