Job summary

To be a part of and provide to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) sound financial advice using financial and other information to support the team in making decisions which improve the efficiency and effectiveness of DMO.

To direct and lead the work of the Finance team to provide an efficient and proactive finance service to all Departments within DMO, ensuring deadlines are met and the needs and objectives of the organisation are achieved.

To promote and support a culture of robust and innovative financial planning across DMO.

To represent DMO's financial interests as part of the project team when dealing and negotiating with 3rd party contractors and external organisations.

To project manage essential and new business opportunities as they arise at DMO and assist the Managing Director with project delivery and strategic management.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The Finance Business Manager is responsible for the financial management of DMO and for leading the project management of new and existing business development.

To work with the SLT to prepare the business plan, ensuring cost pressures and service delivery goals are identified and resourced appropriately.

• As part of the SLT contribute to DMO’s annual and longer term financial strategy and business planning process.
• To manage and oversee the provision of timely and accurate financial management information, analysis and advice used for performance monitoring and decision-making.
• To ensure the team effectively deliver the day to day finance tasks and meet statutory and organisational deadlines.
• To lead on developing and maintaining professional standards within the Finance Department and to actively seek and encourage feedback from users of financial services to enable continuous improvement plans to be implemented.
• To select, manage, motivate and develop the finance team, enabling them to reach their full potential in the achievement of goals and objectives. This includes responsibility for undertaking Personal Development reviews / appraisals for staff.
• Identify operational and corporate risks
• Assisting Management of customer contracts
• To work with the SLT on project management across a range of departments and business disciplines.

The post holder is expected to lead on:

• Strategy support, including responsibility for finance elements of business development;
• Business planning;
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Business case preparation including financial modelling of new and existing products;
• Costing/pricing decision support;
• Project management across a variety of departments including business operations as well as providing financial representation

Dimensions

Financial: Responsibility for all activities relating to finance and financial business projects, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, modelling, analysis and decision support as well as being an integral part of the SLT.

Business: Responsibility for project management, business planning, operational management and being a key member of the SLT.

Other Duties

• Support the Site Manager to manage the DMO Manufacturing site in Redruth, including ensuring provision is in place for meeting and greeting visitors and deliveries and for efficient telephone answering to ensure good customer service.
• Be approachable flexible and willing and build good rapport with the small site team to ensure a cohesive and collaborative team.

Knowledge & Experience

A relevant and formally recognised management, financial or equivalent professional qualification is considered essential, together with experience of managing financial and office services.

In addition the following is also required:

• Knowledge and experience of Finance systems.
• Ability to analyse, interpret financial and business information and utilise the complex information for reporting, forecasting, costing and planning purposes
• Knowledge and experience of successful project management
• Evidence of business planning and strategic management
• Effective and developed interpersonal skills and well developed managerial and organisational skills.
• Excellent communications skills
• Desire to be an integral member of a small team, passionate about the role and organisation and willing to go the extra mile
• Management and supervision of Staff
• Evidence of a commitment to CPD.

Additional Information:

The role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and is based at the main site in Redruth - hybrid working considered.
