Our time in Hobart, Australia

17 / 03 / 2026

By Luke Adams

Our Managing Director and Advanced Clinical Specialist Orthotist, Martin Matthews, attended the 13th Oceania Academy Biennial Conference in Hobart, Australia, alongside our regional distributor, Korthotics. We were welcomed and joined by Merrick Smith, Managing Director & Senior Orthotist, and Isabel Gavin, Orthotist at Korthotics.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to meet all our colleagues as some delegates were unable to attend in person because of current world events. However, we had a steady stream of clinicians visiting the stand to learn more about how our products can support people with neurological, musculoskeletal and genetic conditions.

Together, we spent our time demonstrating how DMOs work, with many clinicians trying on some of the products to experience the benefits first-hand.

The event was also an opportunity for Martin to attend some presentations and clinical seminars to keep up to date with the latest scientific findings and clinical insights. We also had some insights of our own to share with people, as Martin and Merrick have over 100 years of clinical experience between them.

Martin & Kati

The event was a great opportunity to reconnect with colleagues from across the industry, such as Kati Balla, an educator who works with children with Cerebral Palsy in Australia, catching up and hearing about the important work being done to support children and adults with neurological conditions.

Over the following days, Martin continued attending a range of informative sessions while also supporting the team on the stand, demonstrating our products and speaking with clinicians about their clinical applications and how they can benefit patients.

With the conference taking place in Hobart, we were also able to enjoy some of the local culture and cuisine in the evenings, providing a great way to round off a busy and productive few days of learning, collaboration and connection. Thank you very much to Korthotics for supporting us throughout the event, and we can’t wait to get back to Australia soon.
