Last Week, our Managing Director and Clinical Specialist Orthotist, Martin Matthews and Assistant to the MD, Gerry Matthews were very fortunate to attend the International Society on Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT) International Congress 2024.

Hosted in Boston, Massachusetts, over 300 delegates from all over the world attended the four-day conference. As a silver sponsor of the event, we attended alongside our American suppliers and platinum event sponsor, Boston Orthotics & Prosthetics. The purpose of SOSORT is to bring clinicians and researchers together to present and understand the latest research and multidisciplinary methods of treatments, relating to spinal structural changes–promoting effective and innovative treatments for patients.

There was a good turnout at the Pre-Conference Education Day on 1^st May where Martin helped moderate the Bracing session alongside Luke Stikeleather CPO, Chief Executive Officer of the National Scoliosis Center. Martin has been a SOSORT member for many years and has presented his research at SOSORT multiple times in the past. Currently, Martin is a member of their Education Committee and contributed to their online webinars last year.

For the remainder of the conference, Martin and Gerry had the opportunity to see other manufacturers present their own innovative research and medical devices. Each day had multiple breaks, where attendees and delegates could read various Research Abstract posters and meet sponsors at their display tables–including our own which had very positive engagement. 

We had a lot of interest in our Dynamic Movement Orthoses^®, especially our DMO^® Postural Scoliosis Suit & Structural Scoliosis Suit, as they offer patients a non-ridged bracing alternative to conventional rigid bracing. We were very happy to meet with many delegates with a common goal of helping people with Scoliosis manage their conditions to help improve their overall quality of life. We look forward to continuing our support and participation in SOSORT events in the future!
