Cerebral Palsy

The NHS website defines Cerebral Palsy as “Cerebral palsy is the name for a group of lifelong conditions that affect movement and co-ordination. It’s caused by a problem with the brain that develops before, during or soon after birth” (NHS, 2020).

The way in which a DMO® orthosis helps manage the physical effects of Cerebral Palsy depends on the product used and the patients presentation. All of our DMO® trained clinicians treat each patient as an individual, designing the orthoses for their specific need. Our products help manage the symptoms associated with Cerebral Palsy by:

• Helping improve muscle tone
• Improve function and mobility
• Help correct posture and body alignment

We know from research that a significant percentage of children with Cerebral Palsy will develop some degree of scoliosis, we have a range of orthoses, including our postural and structural scoliosis suits that can help manage the spinal posture.
