Clinical training Manchester in association with Ability Matters
DM Orthotics are pleased to announce that we will be holding a clinical training day at our Manchester clinic in association with Ability Matters.
The day will consist of two sessions. A guide to the day’s timetable is outlined below.
9:30am Session 1: Introductory Presentation into the use of Dynamic Movement Orthosis.
This introductory presentation provides a basic understanding in the principles of using Dynamic Movement Orthoses. It gives an overview of: assessment, prescription and measurement; providing candidates with the basic skills and knowledge to understand these processes. Suitable for those new to the concept and practice of Dynamic Movement Orthosis and for those wishing to update prior to measurement training.
11:00 am Session 2: DM Orthotics Foundation Course in Assessment, Measuring and Prescription for Dynamic Movement Orthosis
This course is aimed to provide participants with the knowledge to competently assess, measure and prescribe appropriate Dynamic Movement Orthoses for their patients.
By the end of the course clinicians attending should expect to be able to:
1. State the underlying biomechanical and neurological principles behind the prescription of Dynamic Movement Orthoses.
2. Recognise the signs and symptoms for when and what to prescribe.
3. Select appropriate reinforcements, openings and fastenings for a patients DMO.
4. Feel competent to measure for a range of Dynamic Movement Orthoses including; body suits, gloves and socks.
