E-step presented at the 2015 ISPO World Congress
On the 24th June 2015 DM Orthotics’ Rod Lane gave a presentation on E-step, the new Functional Electronic Stimulation (FES) system which incorporates Dynamic Movement Orthoses at the 2015 ISPO World Congress held in Lyon, France.
The congress, now in its 15th year is a unique interactive forum where over 4,000 professionals involved in the care of patients in need of a prosthesis or an orthosis come together to learn about the latest scientific and clinical advances, products, innovative technologies, designs and materials in prosthetic and orthotic care.
Rod’s presentation on the E-step garnered a lot of interest into this new direction for FES. He speaks of the opportunity,
“Presenting E-step at the ISPO congress was a fantastic occasion to be able to introduce this new product to leaders in the field. People were certainly interested in learning how the Flexitrode® membrane works and the system as a whole. In terms of using the DMO, it’s something that has never been seen before and these sorts of pioneering projects always receive a lot of attention at a venue like the ISPO congress.”
DM Orthotics launched the E-step in March 2015. The FES unit is built into a DMO Dorsiflex sock which provides better ankle stability and improves gait pattern for the management of conditions such as Drop Foot, a common side effect of Stroke. It also features its patented Flexitrode® electrode membrane which addresses common FES issues such as; skin irritation and electrode placement.
