World record breaker always on target thanks to Redruth based manufacturer DM Orthotics
As Jess has been wearing her glove since 2015 it accompanied her to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games where she took home the gold to become a Paralympic champion at the young age of 16. Since then Jess has had an extremely successful para-archery career with her DMO glove enabling her to consistently shoot for gold. She is consistently achieving success and breaking records.
Clinical specialist physiotherapist Neil Hinde worked with Jess to provide her DMO alongside the GB para-archery physio team; “Jess has had a lot of success at such an early stage in her life and nothing seems to phase her, she has the ability to focus on the task at hand and tune everything out. Jess’s cerebral palsy affects both the way she moves and her hand eye coordination, she herself said “I’ve always had really bad hand-eye coordination and was like, you’re probably not going to be great at this Jess, but hey have a go anyway, I surprised everyone around me including myself!”.”
Jess is also a part of team DMO which is an athletic sponsorship programme run by DM Orthotics themselves. Athletes are supported at various different levels depending on their performance level, i.e. international, and how much support they need.
DM Orthotics manufacture made-to-measure medical orthoses for athletes and individuals who have a wide range of neurological or musculoskeletal conditions such as multiple sclerosis, stroke, cerebral palsy and more.
